Welcome to the web page of the Department of Anesthesia at Indiana University School of Medicine. Our departmental offices are physically located on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The postgraduate training program in anesthesiology at Indiana University is designed to provide resident physicians with clinical experience in all aspects of the specialty. Our educational program stimulates residents to excel in their understanding of the science of anesthesiology. Four of the five hospitals staffed by the Department of Anesthesia are located on the Indiana University Medical Center campus, allowing our residents to gain nearly all of their varied clinical experiences in one closely-knit medical complex.

Our department offers an excellent instructional program, with a separate curriculum and separate lectures, problem-based learning discussions, etc for each of the CA-1, CA-2, and CA-3 classes. We carefully monitor each resident's progress in both the academic and clinical aspects of anesthesiology.

The Indiana University Medical Center has a number of unique research facilities. For those residents intent on pursuing an academic career, our department offers research opportunities with established basic science and clinical investigators.
