Introduction

Welcome to the Indiana University School of Medicine Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA) Program. Matriculating our first class in the fall of 2017, we officially became the twelfth Anesthesiologist Assistant program in the United States.  We are excited for the opportunity to contribute to a growing field of healthcare providers.

Our program is dedicated to providing a life-changing educational opportunity delivered by faculty who will ensure you learn to your fullest potential. Program faculty will walk side-by-side with you to help you become a compassionate, ethical, evidence-based practitioner integrated within the Anesthesia Care Team. You will be proud to call yourself a graduate from the Indiana University School of Medicine Anesthesiologist Assistant Program. The success of our program depends on the success of our students. We want you to be successful.

This program offers access to world-class clinical facilities and simulation laboratories and is housed within one of the top academic healthcare centers in the Midwest Region. The IUSM AA Program is housed on the Indiana University Health campus within walking-distance access to University Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, Eskenazi Hospital, and Methodist Hospital. We deliver twenty-eight months of intensive didactic curricula complemented by local clinical rotations through a variety of subspecialties, including pediatrics, trauma, orthopedics, regional anesthesia, neuro and OB. The program, including classroom, laboratory and clinical requirements, will prepare you for the certification examination offered by the National Commission for the Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.  At your successful conclusion of the program, you will be awarded a Master of Science in Anesthesia.
